What is the proper way to install inlet hoses on the washer?

Insert new flat washers into each end of the inlet hoses and firmly seat them in the couplings. Attach the hot water hose to the hot (left) inlet valve first by screwing the coupling on by hand until seated, then attach the cold water hose to the cold (right) inlet valve the same way. Using pliers, tighten the couplings at the washer with an additional two-thirds turn, then attach both hoses to their respective water faucets and tighten those connections. Turn on the water faucets and check for leaks. (Page 8)
