What should I do to prepare my washer for a vacation or extended storage?

If you will be on vacation or not using your washer for an extended period, you should unplug the washer or disconnect power, turn off the water supply to avoid unintended flooding, and slightly open the door to provide ventilation. If storing during freezing weather, winterize the washer by adding 1 qt (1 L) of R.V.-type antifreeze to the drum, running a Drain/Spin cycle, unplugging it, shutting off water faucets, and disconnecting the inlet hoses.
