How should I winterize my washing machine if I'm storing it during freezing weather?

To winterize the washer, put 1 quart (1 L) of R.V.-type antifreeze in the drum and run the washer on a Rinse/Drain & Spin cycle. Then unplug or disconnect power, shut off both water faucets, and disconnect the water inlet hoses from the faucets and drain them. When you use the washer again, flush water pipes, reconnect the hoses, turn on both faucets, plug in the washer, and run a Normal cycle with ½ the manufacturer's recommended HE detergent to clean and remove the antifreeze.
