What safety precautions should I take with flammable materials?

Do not machine wash or dry items that have been cleaned, washed, soaked in, or spotted with wax, paint, gasoline, oil, dry cleaning solvents, or other flammable fluids, as the fumes can create a fire hazard or explosion. Always hand wash and line dry items containing these materials. Additionally, do not store flammable solvents or fluids near your dryer, and never pour dry cleaning solvents directly into the dryer.
