Why is my refrigerator making unusual noises?

Refrigerator noise has been reduced over the years, but you may hear intermittent noises from your new refrigerator. Normal sounds include buzzing when the water valve opens for the ice maker, pulsating from fans/compressor adjusting performance, rattling from refrigerant or water line flow, sizzling/gurgling from water dripping during defrost, popping from wall contraction/expansion, water running during defrost, and creaking/cracking as ice is ejected from the ice maker mold.
