What should I do if my clothes have residue or lint on them after washing?

Sort lint givers (towels, chenille) from lint takers (corduroy, synthetics) and sort by color. Do not overload the washer—the wash load must be balanced with clothes moving freely. Select the correct water level for the load size and use enough detergent to hold the lint in the water. If water is colder than 60°F (15.6°C), detergent may not dissolve completely, so reduce wash time if needed.
