How do I prepare my refrigerator if I am going on vacation?

If leaving the refrigerator on while away, use up perishables, freeze other items, turn off the water supply to the ice maker, turn off the ice maker, and empty the ice bin. If choosing to turn off the refrigerator, remove all food, turn off the water supply and ice maker at least one day ahead, turn off the temperature controls, clean and dry the interior thoroughly, and prop both doors open slightly with rubber or wood blocks to prevent odor and mold buildup.
