What should I do to prepare the refrigerator if I am going on vacation?

If leaving the refrigerator on, use up perishables, freeze other items, turn off the water supply to the ice maker, turn off the ice maker, and empty the ice bin. If turning the refrigerator off, remove all food, turn off the ice maker and water supply at least one day ahead, clean and dry the interior thoroughly, and prop both doors open slightly with rubber or wood blocks to prevent odor and mold buildup.
