What should I do with my refrigerator if I'm going on vacation?

If leaving the refrigerator on, use up perishables, freeze other items, turn off the water supply to the refrigerator if it has an ice maker, and turn off the ice maker and empty the ice bin. If turning off the refrigerator, remove all food, turn off the water supply and ice maker, turn off temperature controls, clean and dry the unit well, and prop both doors open with rubber or wood blocks to prevent odor and mold buildup.
