How do I flush the water system after connecting the refrigerator?

Using a sturdy container, depress and hold the water dispenser paddle for 5 seconds, then release it for 5 seconds and repeat until water begins to flow. Once water flows, continue this pattern until a total of 3 gallons (12 L) has been dispensed. Air in the system can cause dripping, and additional flushing may be required in some households.
