How should I prepare my refrigerator if I am going on vacation?

If leaving the refrigerator on, use up perishables, freeze other items, turn off the water supply to the ice maker, turn off the ice maker, and empty the ice bin. If turning the refrigerator off, remove all food, turn off the water supply to the ice maker at least one day ahead, clean and dry the interior thoroughly, and tape blocks to the tops of both doors to prop them open slightly to prevent odor and mold buildup.
