What materials should not be washed in the dishwasher?

Do not wash acrylic items as crazing (small cracks) may occur, bone-handled utensils as handles may separate, iron items as they will rust, pewter, brass, or bronze items as they will tarnish, tin items as they will stain, and wooden items as they can crack, warp, and lose their finish. Hand wash and dry these items immediately.
