What does Panel Lock do and how do I use it?

Panel Lock prevents the cooktop from being turned on, such as for cleaning, and the elements will not function when turned on. To set Panel Lock, touch and hold the panel lock pad for three seconds until the light above it stays lit. To unlock, touch and hold the panel lock pad for three seconds until the light disappears.
