How should I prepare the printer for shipment?

Turn off the printer power switch and unplug the AC power cord, then remove the drum unit assembly and place it in a plastic bag and seal it completely. Re-pack the printer carefully using the original packaging if possible, as failure to remove the drum unit and place it in a plastic bag before shipping will cause severe damage and may void the warranty.
