What parts of the printer should I never touch when the cover is open?

When you open the front or back cover of the printer, never touch the shaded parts shown in the illustration because after you have just used the printer, some internal parts are extremely hot. The fuser unit is particularly marked with a caution label that should not be removed or damaged. (Page 2)
