How do I improve print quality when colors appear faded?

Use the control panel to calibrate your printer to improve color density. For color touchscreen LCD printers, navigate to Toner → Calibration → Calibrate → Yes, then press Home when 'Completed' appears. For mono LCD printers, press Menu and select Color Correction → Color Calibration → Calibration → Calibrate → Yes, and calibration will start automatically in a few minutes.
