What should I do before installing the garage door opener?

Before installation, you must disable all locks and remove any ropes connected to the garage door. Test the door balance by lifting it halfway up—if balanced, it should stay in place. Also check for binding or sticking by raising and lowering the door, and ensure the gap between the floor and bottom of the door does not exceed 1/4 inch (Page 2).
