How do I start the engine for the first time or after it has run out of fuel?

Sit on the seat, depress the clutch/brake pedal, set the parking brake, place the motion control lever in neutral, disengage the attachment clutch, and move the throttle to fast position. Pull the choke control out for a cold start, insert the key and turn clockwise to start, releasing the key as soon as the engine starts. Do not run the starter continuously for more than fifteen seconds per minute. (Page 14)
