How do I check and adjust the brake on my Craftsman 917.275702?

If the tractor requires more than five feet to stop at the highest speed on a level, dry concrete or paved surface, the brake needs adjustment. With the clutch/brake pedal fully depressed and parking brake engaged, measure the distance between the brake operating arm and nut 'A' on the brake rod — it should be 1-9/16 inches. If adjustment is needed, loosen the jam nut, turn nut 'A' to achieve the correct distance, then retighten the jam nut. (Page 25)
