How do I assemble and unfold the handle on my Craftsman Model 917?

Start by removing the handle padding holding the operator presence control bar to the upper handle. Raise the handles until the lower handle section locks into the mowing position. Then raise the upper handle section into place on the lower handle and tighten the handle knob. Finally, discard the protective handle pads placed between the upper and lower sections.
