How do I safely connect the battery cables during assembly?

Always connect the POSITIVE (Red) wire to its terminal first, followed by the NEGATIVE (Black) wire. After connecting, position the red rubber boot over the positive battery terminal to help protect it from corrosion. If the battery has not been put into service before the date shown on the battery, charge it prior to operating the tractor. (Page 10)
