The engine fails to start — what should I check?

Common causes include an empty or stale fuel tank, a blocked fuel line, the key not inserted all the way, a disconnected spark plug wire, a faulty spark plug, the engine not being primed, or the engine being flooded from excessive priming. If the engine is flooded, wait at least ten minutes before attempting to start again. Ensure the key is fully inserted, as the engine cannot start unless it snaps completely into the ignition switch.
