How do I remove spots and film from glassware?

Remove all metal utensils from the dishwasher and do not add detergent. Select NORMAL WASH cycle and start the dishwasher. After 18 to 22 minutes (when in main wash), open the door and pour 2 cups (500 ml) of white vinegar into the bottom of the dishwasher. Close the door and allow the cycle to complete. If vinegar doesn't work, repeat using 1/4 cup (60 ml) of citric acid crystals instead.
