How do I properly position the burner caps on my cooktop?

The burner caps must be placed gently on top of the burner base so that the prongs of the burner base fit snugly into the groove of the burner cap. You should check that there is no gap between the cap and base, and you may gently try to move the cap side to side to verify proper placement—it should click as the prongs hit the groove ridge. Do not swap burner caps, as this will affect flame stability and make the burner difficult or impossible to light.
