Why won't my cooktop burner stay lit after I release the knob?

The most likely cause is that the knob was not pushed in completely or was not held in long enough. Push the knob completely in and hold it for a minimum of 3-5 seconds before releasing, allowing the thermocouple to heat up and maintain gas flow. Also check that the burner cap is properly positioned and that the igniter is clean and dry. (Page 31)
