How should I clean the carafe and filter basket?

Wash the carafe in hot, soapy water or on the top rack of the dishwasher. Remove the filter basket, which may be washed by hand or in the top rack of the dishwasher; clean the filter basket often. Do not clean the carafe with steel wool pads, abrasive cleansers, or other abrasive materials, as these will scratch the glass.
