Why isn't my heating or cooling system responding to the thermostat?

Verify the correct mode is set (Heat, Cool, or Auto) and the desired temperature is set higher for heating or lower for cooling than the current indoor temperature. Check that the circuit breaker is on and reset if necessary. Ensure the power switch for heating and cooling system is on and the furnace door is closed securely.
