When should I replace the thermostat batteries?

Install fresh batteries immediately when the low battery icon appears, which typically shows about two months before batteries are depleted. Even if the icon doesn't appear, replace batteries once a year or before leaving home for more than a month. Alkaline AA batteries are recommended.
