Why won't my heating or cooling system respond when I change the temperature?

First, verify you're in the correct mode (Heat, Cool, or Auto) using the Mode button. For heating, ensure the setpoint is higher than the inside temperature; for cooling, ensure it's lower. If correct, check the circuit breaker, ensure the power switch is on, the furnace door is closed, and wait 5 minutes for the system to respond.
