What is Auto Changeover and how does it work?

Auto Changeover is a feature for climates where both air conditioning and heating are used the same day. When set to Auto, the thermostat automatically selects heating or cooling based on indoor temperature. Heat and cool settings must be at least 3 degrees apart, and the thermostat automatically maintains this 3-degree separation called 'deadband' (Page 2).
