Can I install the thermostat wiring near power lines and lightning rods?

No. Never place 24VAC or communications wiring near other bare power wires, lightning rods, antennas, transformers, or steam or hot water pipes. All outdoor wiring must be equipped with properly grounded and listed signal circuit protectors installed in compliance with local codes. Failure to follow these guidelines can introduce electrical interference and cause the system to operate erratically (Page 4).
