Can I place the thermostat wiring in the same conduit as power or lighting circuits?
No. Never place 24VAC or communications wiring in any conduit, box, channel, duct, or other enclosure containing power or lighting circuits of any type. You must always provide adequate separation of communications wiring and other electrical wiring according to code (Page 4).
