What should I do if the HP printer software installation fails on my Windows computer?

Remove the CD from your computer and disconnect the printer, then restart the computer. Temporarily disable any software firewall and close any anti-virus software, then reinsert the printer software CD and follow the on-screen instructions — do not connect the USB cable until prompted to do so.
