What items should NOT be washed in the dishwasher?

Several items should not be washed in the dishwasher, including cast iron (seasoning is removed and iron will rust), hollow-handle knives (adhesives can loosen), wooden ware (can warp, crack, or lose finish), pewter, brass, and bronze (high temperatures and detergent can discolor or pit the finish), and disposable plastics and aluminum. Gold-colored flatware will discolor, and tin can rust. (Page 15–16)
