Why is my dishwasher not draining properly, and how do I fix it?

A clogged drain air gap is a common cause of poor drainage; check and clean it periodically by lifting the chrome cover, unscrewing the plastic cap, and removing any soil buildup. Also verify that the overfill protection float can move up and down freely, and press it down to release if stuck. If the cycle is not yet complete, allow it to finish before concluding there is a drainage problem. (Pages 16-17)
