How do I raise the bobbin thread on my sewing machine?

Hold the upper thread with your left hand and turn the handwheel toward you (counterclockwise) to lower then raise the needle. Gently pull on the upper thread to bring the bobbin thread up through the needle plate hole. Then lay both threads to the back under the presser foot.
