What is the proper way to load clothes into the washer?

Drop items into the washer loosely and fill to the top of the basket without wrapping items around the agitator. Load by the amount of space items take up, not by weight, mix large and small items, and load evenly to maintain balance. Overloading or packing the machine can cause poor cleaning, increase wrinkling, create excessive lint, and wear out items faster.
