How much detergent should I use?

The amount of detergent depends on the hardness of your water. For hard water (8 or more grains of hardness), fill one or both sections to the top line. For medium water (5 to 7 grains of hardness), fill to the middle line. For soft water (0 to 4 grains of hardness), fill to the bottom line. You can find out your water's hardness by asking your local water department, water softener company, or county extension agent.
