How should I prepare the washer if I'm going on vacation or storing it in freezing temperatures?

If leaving for an extended period, unplug the washer, turn off the water supply to avoid flooding from a pressure surge, and leave the door slightly open for ventilation. To winterize in freezing temperatures, put 1 quart (1 L) of R.V.-type antifreeze in the drum, run a Drain/Spin cycle, unplug the washer, shut off both water faucets, and disconnect and drain the inlet hoses.
