How do I winterize my washing machine if I'm storing it during freezing weather?

Put 1 quart (1 L) of R.V.-type antifreeze in the drum and run the washer on a Drain/Spin cycle. Then unplug the washer or disconnect power, shut off both water faucets, and disconnect the water inlet hoses from the faucets and drain them. When you're ready to use the washer again, flush the water pipes, reconnect the inlet hoses, turn on the faucets, plug in the washer, and run it through a Normal/Casual cycle with half the manufacturer's recommended amount of HE detergent to clean and remove the antifreeze.
