What should I inspect on my multimeter before using it?

Before use, inspect the multimeter for general condition and specifically look for: insulation protecting the connectors, exposed metal on the leads, damaged insulation, and check lead continuity. Replace any damaged test leads immediately before using the meter. (Page 2)
