Common Questions
28 totalHow do I program beverages according to my taste preferences?
Access the settings menu (B6), customize beverage quantities or aroma as explained in sections “6.3 Program beverages” and “6.4 Program My beverages”, then press OK to accept changes.
How do I descale the Dinamica and how long does it take?
When 'DESCALING NEEDED PRESS OK TO START (~45MIN)' appears, press OK and follow the on-screen steps: remove the water filter, add one 100ml pack of De'Longhi descaler to level A in the tank and fill to level B with water, then place a 2-litre container under the spouts. The full descaling cycle takes approximately 45 minutes and includes automatic rinse cycles; only De'Longhi descaler should be used, as unsuitable products can cause faults not covered by the warranty. (Page 18-19)
How do I restore the machine to its default/factory settings?
Go to the settings menu by pressing the menu button (C3), then select 'DEFAULT VALUES' and press OK to confirm. This resets all menu settings and programmed quantities for all profiles back to default values, with the exception of the language setting which remains as previously set. (Page 10)
How do I clean the infuser and how often should I do it?
The infuser (A20) must be cleaned at least once a month. Turn the machine off, remove the water tank, open the infuser door (A19), press the two colored release buttons and pull the infuser out, then soak it in water for about 5 minutes and rinse under the tap — use water only, no washing-up detergent or dishwasher. After cleaning, slide the infuser back onto the internal support and push it in until it clicks into place. (Page 16-17)
Why does my coffee taste weak or lack crema, and how do I fix it?
Weak or uncreamy coffee is usually caused by a grind that is too coarse. Turn the grinding adjustment dial (A5) one click anticlockwise toward '1' while the grinder is in operation, and note that the effect will only be visible after delivering at least 2 cups. Other possible causes include using unsuitable coffee (use espresso-grade beans) or stale coffee from a pack opened too long ago. (Page 27)
What should I do when the 'EMPTY GROUNDS CONTAINER' message appears?
Remove the drip tray (A15), empty the coffee grounds container (A11), and clean it thoroughly to remove all residues using the spatula on the cleaning brush (D5) provided. The machine cannot be used to make coffee until the grounds container has been emptied and replaced. Importantly, every time you remove the drip tray, the grounds container must be emptied even if it contains only a few grounds, to prevent it overfilling and clogging the machine. (Page 15, 22)
