What should I do with the tether strap when using the car seat in rear-facing mode?

When using the car seat in rear-facing mode, you MUST NOT use the tether strap at all. Instead, you must store the tether strap properly. Attach the tether hook to the storage clip on the seat when in rear-facing mode. Make sure to tightly roll or fold any excess tether strap and secure it with a rubber band to avoid strangulation hazards and prevent the unused tether or hook from hitting someone during a crash.
