How should I handle the excess tether strap after tightening?

Do not cut off the excess tether strap, as it may not be long enough for use in another vehicle. Instead, tightly roll up the excess tether strap and place a rubber band around the bundle to secure it. You must do this to avoid a strangulation hazard. (Page 44, 50)
