How should I load sharp knives and silverware in the dishwasher?

Load sharp knives with the handles up to reduce the risk of cut-type injuries, while spoons should be placed in the basket with handles down. Mix knives, forks, and spoons so they do not nest together, and distribute them evenly. Small plastic items such as measuring spoons should go in the bottom of the silverware basket with silverware placed on top. (Pages 3, 9)
