How do I clean the air gap if the dishwasher is not draining well?

Turn off the dishwasher and lift off the chrome cover of the air gap. Remove the plastic cap and clean it with a toothpick. The air gap should be checked any time your dishwasher isn't draining well, as a clog there is a common cause of drainage problems. (Page 18)
