How do I safely add a forgotten dish after the wash cycle has already started?

A forgotten dish can be added any time before the main wash begins. Push the door latch to the left and do not open the door until the water spray action stops, as steam may rise out of the dishwasher. Add the forgotten dish, then close the door and push the latch to the far right to resume the cycle. (Page 13)
