What should I do before using the blender for the first time?

After unpacking, wash everything except the base in hot, soapy water and dry thoroughly. Wipe the base with a damp cloth or sponge only — do not immerse the base in water. Care should be taken when cleaning inside the jar as the cutting blade assembly is very sharp. (Page 6)
