What safety precautions should I take when using the paper trays?

Do not extend more than one paper tray at a time, do not use paper trays as a step, keep hands out of paper trays when closing them, and ensure all trays are closed when moving the printer. Additionally, never add or remove paper from Tray 1 during printing to avoid jams. (Page 15)
