How do I check if the Oil Control Valve (OCV) is working properly?

Start the engine and let it idle, then with the OCV connector disconnected, connect 12V and a ground to terminals 2 and 1 of the OCV on the component side. Under normal conditions, this should cause a rough idle or engine stall. You can also apply battery voltage and listen for a clicking sound, repeating the procedure 4 or 5 times to ensure OCV reliability. (Page 10)
